Kappa installation on SUSE Linux

The NVIDIA Driver version 256.XX or higher is needed for all CUDA 3.1software–including Kappa version 1.3 or higher. The NVIDIA Driver version 195.36.15 or higher is needed for all CUDA 3.0 software–including Kappa versions 1.0 – 1.2.

You will need the appropriate rpm files from the Psi Lambda Download/Kappa for Linux.

Import Psi Lambda LLC RPM GPG key

To import the Psi Lambda LLC GPG key to the rpm database, run the command:
rpm --import http://psilambda.com/download/kappa/linux/prereq/PSILAMBDA-RPM-GPG.KEYS

Install prerequisites

To make sure that the libpcrecpp prerequisite is installed, run the following command:
sudo /sbin/yast2 --install libpcrecpp0

To make sure that the libffi prerequisite is installed, get the rpm files from the Psi Lambda Download/Kappa for Linux, and run:
the following command for 32 bit systems:

sudo rpm -Uvh kappa-1.2.0-1.i686.rpm libffi-3.0.5-1.el5.i386.rpm

or this command for x86_64 systems:

sudo rpm -Uvh kappa-1.2.0-1.i686.rpm libffi-3.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm

Database driver prerequisites

The proper versions of the Apache Portable Runtime needs to be installed (1.4.2 for APR and 1.3.9 for APR-UTIL) for correct functioning with the Kappa SQL keyword. If the versions for your distribution are not adequate, there are some RPM files available on the prerequisites page that may work.

Install Kappa

To install the Kappa Library runtime, including the ikappa example program, run the command:
rpm -Uvh kappa-version and architecture.rpm
where version and architecture is the version of the Kappa Library and the appropriate architecture for your computer.

The previous command will install the libraries and ikappa program underneath the /usr path prefix and the Kappa configuration files in the /etc/kappa.d directory. If, for example, you need to install Kappa underneath /usr/local and its configuration files in /usr/local/etc/kappa.d, then use a command similar to the following (consult the rpm manual page for more details):
rpm -Uvh --relocate /usr=/usr/local --relocate /etc=/usr/local/etc kappa-version and architecture.rpm

To install the Kappa Library development files (headers), run the command:
rpm -Uvh kappa-devel-version.noarch.rpm
where version is the version of the Kappa Library.

To install the Kappa Library language files (bindings for Perl, Python, Ruby, Lua, etc), run the command:
rpm -Uvh kappa-languages-version.noarch.rpm
where version is the version of the Kappa Library.

To install the Kappa Library documentation, run the command:
rpm -Uvh kappa-doc-version.noarch.rpm
where version is the version of the Kappa Library.
